Quiet rumblings

I haven't fallen off the face of the earth just yet.  In fact the dust is finally starting to settle, thankfully -- I can see on the horizon, at last, a return to writing and rambling regularly.

An all-too-brief summary of That Which Has Passed, for any of you who were following along (please feel free to contact me if you would like to have additional detail):

- My dear Mum did pass away, roughly two years ago, of the cancer I mentioned in my previous post.  Words cannot adequately describe the gratitude and love I have for my parents -- two wonderful souls who brought light into any whose lives they touched.  [Sadly, we have seen many more passings since this one -- two uncles, an aunt, and my wife's grandparents, all of whom are held dear.]

- I'm now a proud dad to two beautiful children, and an at-home-parent at that!  It was a peculiar experience to leave behind a perfectly good, enjoyable job, and puzzling to many, to say the least.  It's been a year and a half rife with tremendous joys and challenges, and I haven't looked back.

- My Virgin Earth entry made it through to the third round of judging before being left behind (given that it was "just plain ol' me" in contention with research firms, preparing submissions mere hours before deadlines, I was quite pleased with this result!  (Granted, the submissions were backed by a bunch of number crunching, sound theories, and tested technologies.  Had I wrestled even just a bit more time away from family, who knows what may have happened...although had I won, then the darned thing would have to be built, wouldn't it ;))

That's all for now -- the little ones have stirred from their naps.

You'll see me back here with a little more regularity now -- I'm carving out a little time for myself here and there.
